The Royal African Society (RAS) wishes to recruit a Curator for Film Africa 2013, with a track record of successful curation of African film and festivals, to set and implement the creative vision for the festival programme. The Curator will need to be based in London.
The Curator will work closely with the Programming Committee to develop a strong and diverse programme of the best contemporary African films and with the RAS team to devise the schedule for the festival. S/he will negotiate the rights of screenings with filmmakers/distributors and will select the filmmakers to be invited to the festival.

Film Africa
Film Africa, the UK’s largest annual festival of African cinema and culture. In November 2012 they held a 10 day festival of 70 African films, 35 leading filmmakers offering Q&As, free professional workshops, and 8 African music nights following the huge success of Film Africa 2011.
A Royal African Society event, in association with SOAS, University of London, Film Africa is hosted by the Hackney Picturehouse and also takes place at The Ritzy in Brixton, the Rich Mix in Shoreditch, the BFI Southbank, Screen on the Green in Islington, and the South London Gallery.
